About a year ago, I redid a plain pine bench. It’s great quality – made in Vermont – and extremely sturdy. I painted the top in a dusty blue plaster of paris chalked paint and sketched out a flying swallow silhouette, which I painted on. It was springtime and I was sure it would fly out of the shop. Months went by and finally I had to admit defeat. So I moved it to another shop – it was so sweet, it had to sell, right?! Apparently not.
