Redoing a Bench Redo – Spring Bench

About a year ago, I redid a plain pine bench. It’s great quality – made in Vermont – and extremely sturdy. I painted the top in a dusty blue plaster of paris chalked paint and sketched out a flying swallow silhouette, which I painted on. It was springtime and I was sure it would fly out of the shop. Months went by and finally I had to admit defeat. So I moved it to another shop – it was so sweet, it had to sell, right?! Apparently not. I received the message to pick her up again…

Bohemian Chic Side Table

I’ve mentioned my father’s friend who has become my personal furniture recruiter. He picked up this little side table for me. Someone had painted the top a dark green, which had gotten a bit beat up. But other than not liking the paint and a ding in the top, the table was in great shape.

Pleasantly Surprised!

I enjoy being pleasantly surprised. I imagine most people do. It’s a simple thing really. You don’t expect goodness, you get goodness, and you’re happy. There it is – pleasant surprise.

Bench gets Sacked!

If you follow furniture renovations at all, grainsack painting (mimicking the look of a grainsack on a painted furniture item) is all the rage. (I just wanted to say “all the rage”.) But really – I love the look – it’s symmetrical and crisp, but worn and comfortable. I have been looking for a good piece to do grainsack stripes on and found the perfect candidate!

Jumping In with a Jewelry Box Revival

Too much time has been wasted in procrastination and pondering the dreaded “what-ifs”. So I will just jump right in. I’m going with something sweet and striking. Pique the curiosity a little and leave room to grow. Here goes…
